A Local Rule for preferred lie was introduced on Wednesday 30th January 2019.
I want to let you know, as there has been some confusion as to what Nudgee Golf Club defines as a fairway.
In golf, the fairway is the grassy area situated between the tee block and the green. The grass on the fairway is cut short enough to make shots off it easier to hit, but it is not cut as short as the grass on the green. The goal is to hit your tee shot onto the fairway to avoid the longer grass, called “rough,” and such penalty areas as water and sand. Below is a image of a golf hole with definitions, please note the Water Hazard is now referred to as a “Penalty Area” and we measure holes in meters, not yards. In Australia we call the tee box a tee, tee block or tee off area.
The club Local Rule Board is located on the brick pillar closest to the club house bar doors under the arched roof out side the pro shop main doors, members should refer to the local rule board often to see if any changes are in place.
