The Board would like to thank all members for their patience as we all endure the toughest lockdown since the start of the pandemic. It’s a difficult time for all and our thoughts are with those who must quarantine.
As ever, the Board and Management of Nudgee Golf Club are bound by the rules set out by the Chief Health Officer of Queensland. This means that for the next (hopefully) short time, golf and golf practice is not possible. As a result, Nudgee Golf Club will remain closed and will not re-open until Monday, 9 August 2021 at this stage. This includes the Course, Golf Shop and Clubhouse.
The key messages from Queensland Health are:
- Only leave home for essential reasons listed;
- Stay home and stay safe;
- If you have symptoms get tested; and
- If you are over 60 and haven’t yet been vaccinated go and get your first vaccine.
Our management team is in constant contact with the relevant authorities and industry groups, and as soon as the advice changes, we will be back. Please keep checking your emails, the website, and the app.
If we look for positives out of this situation, it’s that the golf courses will be having a rest during the middle of winter. Queensland Government advice is that that golf course maintenance can continue through the lockdown. Superintendent Pete Culross is using the break away from golfers to do a mini-renovation- the greens will all have a verticut and the driving range tee will get some much-needed attention.
Our civil works team of Flemming Golf and Project Irrigation are enjoying a prolonged spell of fine weather, and we should see some amazing changes when we’re allowed back on the course e.g. the double green (the old 14North) is shaping up beautifully!
We all hope this is a short, sharp break away from golf. We have some big events coming up soon, including the Men’s and Women’s Foursomes (Sunday 29th August) and our Club Championships in September.
Additionally, the Board is planning for a Member Evening early in September- so let’s all do the right thing and stay COVID safe.
See you out there soon!
